Today, we celebrate World Wildlife Day and shine a spotlight on the remarkable theme of ‘Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods’.

Preserving these unique plants means safeguarding the traditions, knowledge, and resources that empower communities, especially in rural areas and among young people.

It opens doors for local communities, supports rural growth, and inspires the next generation to innovate.

These plants hold the keys to tomorrow’s markets, new innovations, and potential cures for diseases yet to be discovered.
These plants are more than just elements of our natural world.

By promoting responsible harvesting and cultivation, we create pathways for economic development, job creation, and improved livelihoods, particularly in underserved regions.

By conserving them, we protect both our cultural and biological legacy, ensuring that future generations inherit a world rich in opportunity and wellness.

And the theme of this year’s World Wildlife Day demonstrates this perfectly.

Together, we can ensure that our planet’s wild heritage thrives and that the seeds of hope we plant now will flourish for generations to come.

Happy World Wildlife Day!
