Der Tag der Arzneipflanze ist eine Initiative der Gesellschaft für Phytotherapie. Sie folgt damit ihrem Auftrag, das Wissen über die gesundheitlichen Wirkungen der Arzneipflanzen auf eine wissenschaftliche Basis zu stellen und bekannt zu machen. Er soll bewusst machen, dass Heilen mit Arzneipflanzen und pflanzlichen Arzneimitteln eine moderne, wirksame und wissenschaftlich belegbare Therapie ist.

The National Network of the UN Global Compact in Russia invites everyone interested in preserving a healthy environment to join our event dedicated to World Wildlife Day.

We will discuss the importance of conscious and responsible attitudes toward the environment, the role of raising awareness about various aspects of ecosystem conservation and restoration—within which wildlife plays a crucial role—and present unique examples of human contributions to the protection of animals, plants, and natural wildlife sites.

Special attention will be given to the 2026 theme, “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Sustaining Health, Heritage and Livelihoods,” in order to increase knowledge about this potential of wildlife and its role in human health and in the cultural traditions of local communities, as well as to highlight the risks of losing such plants under climate change conditions.

The event will take place on March 10 at 15:00 (Moscow time) online in an open discussion format.

World Wildlife Day provides an opportunity to draw attention to the intrinsic value of wildlife, the diversity and beauty of wild fauna and flora, and to better understand the benefits that nature provides to humanity. It also promotes greater awareness of human responsibility toward nature. Wildlife is a source of ecosystem balance and biodiversity preservation, and at the same time a resource upon which human well-being depends—from food and fuel to clean air and water, medicines, shelter, and jobs.

To ensure well-being for present and future generations, it is essential to increase awareness of the role of responsible and sustainable use of natural resources in all areas of life, as well as to disseminate knowledge about wildlife and examples of conservation efforts.

Particular focus will be placed on the 2026 theme “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Sustaining Health, Heritage and Livelihoods,” aiming to enhance understanding of the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants for human health, ecological balance, and cultural traditions of local communities, as well as to highlight the risks of their loss due to climate change.

Today, 9% of plant species used worldwide for medicinal and aromatic purposes are threatened with extinction due to overharvesting, habitat loss, climate change, and illegal trade. Up to 70,000 species of medicinal and aromatic plants are used globally, forming the foundation of many healthcare systems and remaining vital for modern pharmaceuticals. Beyond medical applications, wild plant resources are used across various industries and play a crucial role in maintaining ecosystems by stabilizing soils and supporting biodiversity. The event will also address the challenges faced by Indigenous peoples in maintaining their traditional ways of life.

Overall, the event aims to foster knowledge continuity and strengthen responsibility for nature conservation through a tripartite dialogue among government, business, and civil society, with the participation of youth, experienced experts, and representatives of corporate and public sectors involved in environmental decision-making.

Follow the one-way system into the heart of the village and proceed along Church Street. When you reach the cobbled area on the left, follow those cobbles until the harbour appears in front of you. Turn right at this point (straight ahead is private parking) and go straight on. About 50 yards past the jetty, on your right you will find the parking bays for disabled drivers. Bearing left you will pass the Toilets and then the Aquarium, after which you may park in any of the areas indicated above.

You can drive straight onto the harbour. There are some 60++ parking spaces. There is a ticket machine in the main parking area and your payment allows you to park either there, on your right after the Aquarium, or on the Lighthouse Quay itself. Please bring coins for parking.

Throughout the mid-Atlantic, streams and rivers are common – but have you ever considered the impact of the plants that grow along these waterways? From a canopy of leaves which provide food and habitat all year round to deep roots which secure stream banks, riparian plants play a critical and beautiful role in stream health. Join Watershed Specialists Lauren McGrath and Anna Walsh as they share their research on three headwater stream ecosystems in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Since 2018, the two have been monitoring water quality to better understand the connection between land and water and determine how they can strategically restore the water's edge to strengthen our ties to the landscape, from fragile headwaters all the way downstream. Learn from these experts, who have planted over 2,800 trees in the last five years, about the benefits of planting diverse native trees and shrubs for wildlife, including birds, insects, and mammals like beaver and otter, for watershed health, and for local communities. Attendees will learn more about riparian plants, freshwater ecosystems, and what role they can play in studying, saving, and restoring this dynamic system for future generations.

On World Wildlife Day, Doopsgezind Amsterdam is organizing an inspiring lecture about birds in Amsterdam.

The lecture will be given by Arjan Dwarshuis and Gisbert van Baalen from the Vogelspotcast. In this popular podcast, Arjan (world record holder in birdwatching) and Gisbert share stories and anecdotes about birds.

During the lecture, various topics will be discussed. Using examples from the city – from house sparrow to peregrine falcon – they will highlight how birds adapt to urban life, which species are thriving, which are under pressure, and why city birds are so important for Amsterdam’s biodiversity. They will also discuss what we as residents can do to support birds and their habitats, for example through green gardens, biodiversity on balconies, and other places in the city.

In addition, Gisbert will highlight bird stories from the Bible, in which birds often symbolize freedom, protection, and care for creation. He will show how these stories can inspire us to pay attention to the birds around us and how we can help preserve their habitat in the city.

“In Amsterdam, we notice that some bird species are disappearing or that their migration patterns are changing. During the lecture, we will look at what we can do to help birds and their habitats in the city.”

Our system is built exclusively around medicinal plants as complete living biological systems, based on the principle of developing, conserving, and delivering the entire holobiont. Impact: In 2025, over 180 students participated in our non-curricular educational activities.
What Makes Us Unique:
No other NGO in the world operates this complete circuit for medicinal plants. We treat the plant at every stage as a holobiont: intact microbiome, active native enzymes, and preserved biological matrix. The NGO Beica Mădulari RO develops the only integrated system applied to medicinal plants, a complete circuit from wild seed, study, conservation of virgin species (12 endemic and 2 allogeneic) through cultivation, conservation, processing to the natural bioenzymatic product, this system is built exclusively around medicinal plants as complete living biological systems, based on the principle of development, conservation and delivery of the entire holobiome, all with the ultimate goal of disseminating knowledge and educating communicators by offering the chance for their development.
What is implemented and functional:
In a year of activity through active partnerships with the Vâlcea Agricultural Directorate, the Faculty of Pharmacy - University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova and the Bucharest Metropolitan Library on scientific educational coordination activities, we managed to establish a material base (2000 sqm of protected spaces and 1000 sqm of free spaces for comparative culture) of culture and to implement a concept applied to 14 species of medicinal plants in applied study - wild Carpathian ecotypes collected from virgin areas (mostly from Polovragi) and allogeneic species (2 species) in acclimatization. A complete operational chain applied exclusively to medicinal plants: wild seed collection, controlled cultivation in greenhouses, systematic study of species and ecotypes, reversible preservation of holobionts at ambient temperature by the Sarcophagus Method (original), 100% natural enzymatic bioconversion, education and dissemination of knowledge through observations and applied studies provided free of charge – in 2025 over 180 students participated in extracurricular events and activities.
What makes this unprecedented for an NGO: no other non-governmental entity in the world dealing with medicinal plants operates the complete circuit - from wild seed to natural bioenzymatic final product - treating the plant at every stage as a holobiont: intact microbiome, active native enzymes, preserved biological matrix. This is not a laboratory, not a seed bank, not a processing unit. It is all of this, integrated under a single applied concept, in a single location, strictly on medicinal plants.

On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, MAATY will celebrate 3rd March 2026 to promote awareness about the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in health, heritage, and sustainable livelihoods.

In line with the World Wildlife Day 2026 United Nations Virtual Celebration, the traditional Geneva celebration will showcase the role of Geneva in highlighting the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in sustaining human health, cultural heritage, and local livelihoods and in advancing collaborative actions needed to ensure that these plants are conserved and used sustainably for future generations to continue benefitting from them.
Following the formal Opening Segment, the celebration will feature a series of Lightning Talks – five-minute presentations (PechaKucha format) – delivered by experts exploring MAP-related topics of their choice. These talks will highlight the benefits and applications of MAPs, innovative ways to overcome the pressing challenges they face, as well as the important role played by those who protect them. A dedicated World Wildlife Day Exhibition will also take place in parallel.

The event will include educational activities, wildlife exhibitions, and community engagement initiatives, aligning with the sanctuary's mission to protect and conserve wildlife. We will ensure all activities are safe, respectful, and do not disrupt the sanctuary's operations.

To celebrate the World Wildlife Day, we are creating a wild herb garden on our grounds for local schools. On March 3rd, we will present these species and their uses via the social network "Nebenann.de".

As we approach World Wildlife Day on 3rd March 2026, learn about Canada’s first bilingual, interdisciplinary, open-access textbook dedicated to the evolving management and planning of protected and conserved areas. This new and innovative textbook is the result of a collaborative effort between Wilfrid Laurier University and the John McMurry Research Chair in Environmental Geography, IISAAK OLAM Foundation, the Collective for Parks, Conservation, Innovation and Leadership (CPCIL) and Parks Canada. Our goal is to empower youth to design "nature-positive" communities where coastal restoration and wildlife health are the foundations of regional resilience. Rooted in the rich soil of our heritage and driven by the urgency of the climate crisis, our work for World Wildlife Day 2026 reclaims the narrative of Cambodian conservation. We believe that protecting our wildlife is an act of preserving our identity. As youth leaders, we bridge the gap between local ecological wisdom and international climate standards, demonstrating that the protection of Cambodia's 'Blue Carbon' sinks is a vital contribution to the global fight for a cooler, greener planet.

Resulting from an immersive study of the Kampot wetlands, this landmark project represents the first youth-driven collaboration between the Future Climate Heroes and The Verdant Botany. By synthesising technical expertise with local ecological knowledge, the initiative addresses the intersection of cultural heritage and environmental stewardship through two core pillars:

1. The Heritage Narrative (Visual Advocacy) An educational poster, "Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage, and Livelihoods," which highlights the coastline as a "living pharmacy" essential to both cultural identity and economic stability.

2. Digital Masterclass (Capacity Building): A session titled "Biodiverse Urbanism: Wildlife Health & Eco-Tourism as a Shield Against the Illegal Trade." It focuses on youth-led community engagement and sustainable eco-tourism as powerful economic alternatives to the illegal wildlife trade (1st March 1-2 PM).

Join the Adventure: From the Swiss Mountains to Your Family Room or Your Classroom

This World Wildlife Day (March 3rd), go on a virtual journey through the breathtaking Swiss Mountains. Led by a teacher with over 20 years of experience, this pre-recorded field trip invites you to "come along" and see the world through a nature-positive lens.

As we witness the shift from winter to spring, we explore what it means to be a Mindful Explorer. This session puts wildlife at the heart of our actions, reminding us that whenever we step outside, we are guests in someone else's home.

What’s Included in the Journey:
The 5 Pillars of Mindful Exploration: Practical tips to ensure we are considerate adventurers (from staying on paths to being "nature detectives").

The Science of the Season: Observing the transition from snow to sprout and what that means for our local animal life.

A Story of Hibernation: A special segment to help children connect with their "wild neighbours"—learning about those waking up from a winter's sleep and those who have been active all year round.

Our Zoo will hold the World Wildlife Day event on Sunday, March 1, in cooperation with partner organizations. The event is presented as one of the most important global conservation-themed zoo programs, offering visitors a wide range of educational and interactive activities.
Programs include demonstration feedings, scavenger hunt games, craft workshops, and age-specific tasks, all complemented by surprises. In addition to our cooperating partners, zoo staff will also participate with stands in the educational station-based games.
The stations will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and, due to unpredictable weather, are primarily set up indoors.

As in past years, we nature lovers and grassroots at CIEDM are to hold a single local event to support and take part in the celebrations of two global awareness campaigns – the UN World Seagrass Day and World Wildlife Day, at the Arcadia Ecohome Miocroforest. Our actions include event registrations, cleanups of the Microforest and surrounding public properties such as street roadways and parkways, specifically the Ecohome’s Ocean Friendly Garden to reduce stormwater and plastic pollution in waterways and waterbodies, a citizen-science based bioblitz walk at and around the Microforest to enjoy, record and share any spotting, and a social media campaign for the two UN campaigns to raise public awareness of the campaign messages and what we grassroots are doing.

CIEDM Event for Seagrass and Wildlife @ Arcadia Ecohome --
As nature lovers and conservation professionals at CIEDM, as in past years, we’ll take part in supporting both the UN World Wildlife Day and World Seagrass Day 2026 with a single grassroots events at and around the Arcadia Ecohome. The venue for the event is at the Arcadia Ecohome’s Micro-forest, a Certified Wildlife Habitat and a Certified Pollinator Habitat. Scheduled in three days from 1-3 March 2026, the event activities include habitat conservation and cleanups, a bioblitz walk and observation, citizen science and online advocacy engagements.

Wildlife Jewels® is hosting a free World Wildlife Day celebration featuring wildlife-inspired art, hands-on learning, and native planting for pollinators. The event includes a Wildlife Jewels fine art & fashion exhibit highlighting wildlife from around the world—including the Persian leopard, African white rhino, Antarctic krill, raccoon, monarch butterfly, and more—plus a community painting activity, conservation partner exhibits, and short talks focused on protecting wildlife locally and worldwide.

I am a Senior Lecturer and an environmentalist with special interest on the effect of Climate change on Biodiversity and the Patron of the Environment Club at Shanzu Teachers Training College in the Coastal city of Mombasa , in Kenya, on the Eastern part of Africa.
The teacher trainees shall display different potted medicinal and aromatic plants, with the local and scientific name attached. in groups. Each group shall explain the medicinal or aromatic value of their plant. we shall then discuss the challenges in conservation and how it can be improved.
We shall also discuss an Event organized by Kenya Wild Life Services , named, Global Conservation Tech and Drone Forum (GCTDEF 2026) exploring the use of tech in conservation.
